Nowadays Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Vladivostok State University (further abbreviated VVSU) is turning itself into a leading business university in the Russian Far East by offering creative education with a practical, hands-on approach to learning. The programs at VVSU have a strong focus in the areas of economics and business, management, tourism, design, engineering and international studies.

VVSU was founded in 1967 as Far Eastern Technological Institute of (FETI). Later on in 1995, its name was changed to Far Eastern State Technological Institute (FESTI) and soon after, in 1996, the university raised its status and was renamed as Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service. In 2022, the university changed its name to Vladivostok State University.

RECENT HISTORY

2008	VVSU awarded the crystal Palm at La Sorbonne as one of the world’s best business schools.
2009	VVSU won the quality award of the Russian Federation Government.
2010	VVSU President Gennady Lazarev received the CEEMAN Champion Award.
2013	VVSU became a member of the Russian-Chinese Association of Economic Universitites and is among the 26 leading universities in Russian Federation and China.
2014	VVSU is included in European Organization for Quality (EOQ) with the right to use its quality label.
2015	VVSU became one of the winners of the All-Russian competition on education programs “Economics and Management – 2015”.
2016	VVSU received BB evaluation – “Good quality performance” in Academic of World Universities-European Standard ARES-2016.
2017	One more time VVSU received BB evaluation – “Good quality performance” in Academic of World Universities-European Standard ARES-2017. This year VSUES gained raised.
2018	VVSU has moved 20 positions up in the National University Ranking of Russia. VVSU congratulates the first graduates in Aviation Service and in Advertising and Public Relations!
2019	VVSU is one of the five best economic universities in the country in terms of education quality and employment according to the results of the ARES-2019 International University Rankings.
2020	In the European rating ARES -2020 VVSU not only entered the top hundred of the best universities in Russia, but also climbed nine positions - taking the 76th line of the rating and receiving the highest of the B categories - the BBB + category.

In 2017, about 600 foreign citizens from 20 countries studied in the university. VVSU has agreements on bilateral cooperation with 65 educational institutions, organizations and funds from 16 countries, implementing 25 exchange and joint programs, and 5 programs of "double diplomas". VVSU is a member of the Association Russian and Chinese Universities, as well as the Association of Sino-Russian Economic Universities. In 2018 VVSU founded the Association of Design Universities of Asia-Pacific Region. According to the rating of the information agency "Interfax" NUR-2018 (National University Rating) VVSU is among the top 50 Russian universities in the area of internationalization.
