Yesterday, students, faculty, and staff of Vladivostok State University (VVSU) gathered at the "Unconquered" memorial to participate in a flower-laying ceremony that has become a sacred tradition for the university. Exactly one year ago, on this very ground, a monument was unveiled to immortalize the valor of Primorye residents, and today, September 3rd, the tradition established by Rector Tatiana Terenteva on the day of the monument's opening continued.
Paying tribute to the fallen, VVSU Rector Tatiana Valerievna Terenteva addressed the gathering with a heartfelt speech. She emphasized the uniqueness of our country's historical path, noting the resilience of the Soviet Union during the 1,418 days of war against the backdrop of the rapid collapse of European powers. The rector also announced the establishment of a tradition for first-year students, urging them to be worthy of the heroes who fell for the land on which the university now stands.
Today's ceremony became a convergence point for several significant dates. The "Unconquered" memorial is adjacent to Victory Alley and a coniferous forest of 80 trees planted for the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, a minute of silence was announced to the sound of a metronome, and the honor guard of the military-patriotic club "Storm" froze in mournful silence at the foot of the monument, confirming: the "Unconquered" live in our hearts.
