From May 27 to 29, the Vladivostok State University (VVSU) hosted the forum titled "Art Navigator of Tourism – Dialogue of Experts." Over 200 participants and 20 experts from Russia and neighboring countries gathered to discuss the development of the tourism industry in the region.
The forum was organized by the Institute of Tourism and Creative Industries of VVSU and the Ministry of Tourism of Primorsky Krai. Throughout the three days, attendees participated in round tables, lectures, masterclasses, ethnolaboratories, and exhibitions that focused on the past, present, and future of creative industries within the tourism sector of the region.
"Tourism is creativity; it is difficult to engage a guest without a creative approach. We offer tourists impressions through their participation in the cultural and creative life of our region, providing them with unique experiences and broadening their horizons. Today's tourist has moved away from passive consumption of attractions; they are increasingly interested in deep immersion into the cultural environment. We have rich potential, a wealth of ideas and proposals, and we must understand how to better and more creatively represent our territory," explained Natalia Naboychenko, Minister of Tourism of Primorsky Krai.
During thematic meetings, experts discussed trends in domestic tourism and opportunities for collaboration between the tourism sector of Primorye and commercial organizations as well as government agencies. This approach fosters partnership, develops ethno-cultural potential, and enhances modern tourist infrastructure in Vladivostok and the entire region.
"Today, Vladivostok is perceived not only as a maritime and business center but also as a city of impressions. Tourists come here for the atmosphere, gastronomy, events, and unique urban environment. Therefore, creative industries for us are not an abstract concept but a real tool for developing tourism and the urban economy. Gastronomic festivals, cultural projects, city events, and local brands help shape Vladivostok's recognizable image, making it attractive to guests from all over Russia and other countries," added Ekaterina Sivolovskaya, Deputy Head of the Administration of Vladivostok.
Organizers of lectures and expert meetings noted that open dialogue among authorities, businesses, the scientific community, and creative industries formed the foundation of the forum. This dialogue opens new opportunities for promoting Primorye, expanding tourist flow, and improving service quality in the tourism sector.
