Students and faculty from Vladivostok State University took part in the international telebridge “Three Fortresses – Three Destinies”, which connected participants from Russia, the Republic of Belarus, and China.
The event was organized by the Institute of Tourism and Creative Industries at VVSU, together with the Youth-Children’s Center “Aida” (Vladivostok) and the Lida Historical and Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.
Tourism students from VVSU, as well as members of young diplomats’ clubs and specialized diplomatic classes from Vladivostok, Moscow, Izhevsk, Votkinsk, Khabarovsk, and Yakutsk, presented research on the history of fortifications and the heroic deeds of their ancestors.
A team of VVSU students — Ilya Leus, Mikhail Kudrin, Svetlana Egovtseva, Anastasia Kuzmina, and Polina Loshak — under the guidance of Lyudmila Melnikova, created a unique digital project: “Fort Pospelov: What You Haven’t Seen on Russky Island”. The project combines historical accuracy with modern technology, allowing a virtual walk through one of the city’s most atmospheric fortifications.
The video tour is built on the principle of immersion: viewers walk with the hosts through the 1901 concrete casemates, gunpowder magazines, and traverses with powerful 229-mm coastal guns. Filming took place in challenging weather and specific lighting conditions of the underground casemates, which helped convey the authentic atmosphere of the defensive structure.
He Beichen (China), now a student at the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts, shared memories of the Dunin Fortress. The battle for it is considered the last engagement of World War II. The fortified area was liquidated by units of the Soviet 25th Army in August 1945. The student spoke about the unique fortification features of this structure. Today, the fortress is a memorial complex crowned by a 30-meter obelisk dedicated to the memory of Soviet soldiers.
The meeting concluded with a speech by Lyubov Pryadko, a researcher from the Lida Historical and Art Museum. She was joined by a delegation of Belarusian schoolchildren, prepared by the museum and the Lida District Center for Ecology, Tourism, and Local History.
