Vladivostok State University hosted a business visit from representatives of Harbin University of Commerce. The partner universities discussed the development of educational and scientific projects.
The VVSU delegation included First Vice-Rector Sergey Golikov, Vice-Rector for Academic Policy Olga Baturina, Director of the Department of International and Cultural Activities Petr Semin, and other senior officials.
The Chinese delegation was led by Vice-Rector Xiu Guoying, Head of the International Relations Office Jing Xianyang, and other faculty members.
Golikov welcomed the guests, highlighting that VVSU, named after the city where it is located, serves as the educational heart of Vladivostok, the capital of the Russian Far East. He noted that the university educates over 15,000 students across its campuses in Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Artyom, and Nakhodka. Currently, about 600 international students from 22 countries study at VVSU, with a significant number from China, especially in economics, management, pedagogy, and linguistics.
The guests were introduced to VVSU’s international and cultural activities, as well as the conditions for foreign students, including campus life and youth engagement.
Xiu Guoying expressed his honor at visiting VVSU and thanked the hosts for their warm reception.
Harbin University of Commerce, a key institution in Heilongjiang Province since 1952, has graduated over 27,000 specialists. The university collaborates with institutions in 27 countries, focusing on Russia, Japan, and Korea, and actively participates in student exchange programs.
Jing Xianyang reported that the universities currently cooperate under the 1+3 program, with four new Chinese students expected to join VVSU this year.
The parties discussed the potential for joint educational programs, allowing students from both countries to study abroad. Future plans include developing programs in the most promising fields for both Russia and China.
Xiu Guoying concluded by expressing hope that the spring season, symbolizing new beginnings in China, would bring fruitful results to their joint projects.
